The Cluster Mobility & Logistics, which is managed by the city's R-Tech GmbH, is celebrating its 11th anniversary. Since 2011, the technology cluster has been supporting the Regensburg economic region in tapping into new innovation potential. A year ago, the two initially separate IT logistics and Regensburg e-mobility clusters merged to form the cross-industry cluster, which is now one of the most efficient cluster management organizations in Germany with over 100 members.

The 11th anniversary was celebrated in the evening at TechBase with representatives from business, science and politics, friends and companions. Guests and speakers alike paid tribute to the successful development of the cluster, which emerged from the ZIM project "Network Innovative Logistics NIL" in 2011. Dr. Thomas Burger, City Councillor of Regensburg, emphasized the importance for the region in his welcoming address: "Since 1996, the city of Regensburg has pursued an active cluster policy with the aim of securing the competitiveness of the city and the companies based here. Since its foundation, the Mobility & Logistics cluster has set a shining example in this interplay between business and science".

The Mobility & Logistics cluster creates synergies and provides impetus for new ideas and projects in the fields of mobility and logistics. The result so far: over 70 initiated research and development projects with around 200 partners involved and a total project volume of 32 million euros. Alexander Rupprecht, Managing Director of R-Tech GmbH: "The autonomous people mover EMILIA or the R&D networks HY2.ZERO and the EU project RECIPROCITY are prime examples of the functioning cooperation between the city of Regensburg, business, science and clusters. Global challenges and trend topics are identified and implemented in concrete application projects with the joint potential at the location."

With "transform.r", the latest joint project has just been launched, in which the cluster is acting as consortium leader. Cluster Manager Uwe Pfeil: "The automotive industry is on the verge of setting the course for the future. Together with Strategische Partnerschaft Sensorik e.V. and cooperation partners from industry and science, we want to strengthen the future viability of the vehicle and supplier industry in the region".  "transform.r" is funded by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection (BMWK) with 2.3 million euros and is scheduled to run for three years.
