The kick-off of the transform.r strategy dialog with representatives and stakeholders from the regional automotive industry, employee and employer associations, science and business development took place at TechBase Regensburg on 28.11.2022. The committee wants to jointly establish a network that supports small and medium-sized companies in particular in the transformation process of the automotive industry.
The phasing out of the old combustion engine technologies is associated with major challenges, especially for SMEs. To ensure that this change does not have a negative impact on employment figures in the region, numerous networking and training opportunities are to be created by the end of 2025 to secure skilled workers in the region. All participating stakeholders agreed on the need for such support measures. "Many companies in the region also see the transformation in the automotive industry as an opportunity and want to fully exploit the potential of new technologies. The aim of transform.r is to support them with suitable measures," said Alexander Rupprecht, Managing Director of R-Tech GmbH, which coordinates the Cluster Mobility & Logistics.
New job profiles are emerging for a successful transition to electromobility. Often, small and medium-sized companies in particular do not have sufficient capacity to prepare themselves for this independently and to acquire the qualifications required in the future - if they are already known at all - through internal training courses.
The Cluster Mobility & Logistics and the Strategic Partnership Sensor Technology e.V. are now supporting this change with the transform.r transformation network by establishing new qualification programs. The Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection is funding the network with 2.3 million euros.
