Munich/Regensburg, September 20, 2021 - The Cluster Mobility & Logistics was represented for the first time at the International Motor Show in Munich from September 6 to 12. The joint stand with the City of Regensburg and nine other co-exhibitors was visited by Bavaria's Minister of the Interior Joachim Hermann, State Secretary Roland Weigert and Regensburg's Lord Mayor Gertrud Maltz-Schwarzfischer, among others. The Regensburg Emil electric bus was an eye-catcher at the stand.
Regensburg was the first city in Bavaria to launch its own electric bus line in 2017, making it a pioneer in zero-emission public transport. The Emil presented at the IAA Mobility serves as an innovation platform for member companies of the Regensburg e-mobility cluster (now Cluster Mobility & Logistics) to develop and improve drive systems of the future. One of the companies involved is the development service provider AVL, which integrated components for high-performance e-motors, power electronics and control software into the bus.
"The new IAA MOBILITY sees itself as a source of inspiration for mobility solutions of the future, for experiencing and having a say," says Alexander Rupprecht, Managing Director of R-Tech GmbH, which manages the cluster. "It was therefore the ideal platform for us to present our innovative projects with our members." Maria Hirschberger, Cluster Mobility & Logistics adds: "Our members were able to make numerous contacts at the IAA and initiate ideas for new projects."
Bavaria's Interior Minister Joachim Hermann, Saxony's Digital Minister Ines Fröhlich, Development Minister Dr. Gerd Müller and State Secretary Roland Weigert were also impressed by the innovative mobility concepts from Regensburg over the course of the trade fair. On September 8, Regensburg's Lord Mayor Gertrud Maltz-Schwarzfischer also visited the joint stand for a Bavarian breakfast and found out about products and projects related to the Emil innovation bus from co-exhibitors and project partners AVL, Bertrandt, Stadtwerk Regensburg, TriOptoTec and OTH Regensburg. There was also a lively exchange with Bayern Innovativ, a subsidiary of LfA Förderbank Bayern, and the Holland High-Tech Mobility Pavilion.
