Webinar: Opportunities & challenges of hydrogen in mobility applications

07/20/2023

Project RECIPROCITY

Hydrogen applications for mobility were the topic of the latest webinar in the RECIPROCITY project, which took place on June 26, 2023. The more than 40 participants received exciting input on the opportunities and challenges that hydrogen brings for mobility applications.

Manuela Prieler, Project Manager at the flagship energy region WIVA P&G in Austria, cited the necessary infrastructure, targeted funding and regulatory framework conditions as the biggest challenges for the use of green hydrogen.

Geame Brown presented the hydrogen activities in the Aberdeen region. Since 2013, intensive work has been underway there on the transformation towards H2. Aberdeen now has a large fleet of (partially) hydrogen-powered vehicles in the municipal sector - from garbage trucks to public transport with buses. The next step is to set up a production facility for green hydrogen.

Benedict Utech (Wiener Linien) and Michael Richter from the Austrian research institute HycentA reported on their experiences with the test use of buses and trucks. A major challenge is the production of green hydrogen in sufficient quantities and the necessary filling stations.

This project is funded by the European Union's "Horizon 2020" research and innovation program.
