The Cluster Mobility & Logistics, the Green Tech Cluster (Regensburg Energy Agency), the district of Regensburg, Transform.r and the Deggendorf Institute of Technology organized a specialist event with around 160 participants as part of the Regensburg H2.R hydrogen round on 26 September at the Technologie Campus (TC) Wörth-Wiesent.

The event offered participants from business, science and politics as well as over 20 exhibiting companies and organizations an excellent platform for intensive exchange and networking in the field of hydrogen technologies.

Elisabeth Kerscher, Mayor of Wiesent and Deputy Chairwoman of the Wörth-Wiesent special purpose association, and District Administrator Tanja Schweiger emphasized the relevance of the Deggendorf Institute of Technology's Technology Campus in the district of Regensburg in their welcoming addresses.

The scientific director of the TC Wörth-Wiesent, Professor Dr. Otto Kreutzer, gave an overview of the current status and the progress made over the last one and a half years. He expressed his satisfaction: two of the three professorships have been filled and, in addition to the ongoing projects, more are already in the pipeline.

Prof. Dr. Michael Sterner, Professor of Energy Storage at the Ostbayerische Technische Hochschule (OTH) Regensburg, highlighted the key challenges and opportunities of hydrogen use in logistics and mobility in his keynote speech. He explained: “Hydrogen is not just an energy carrier, but the driver for the transformation of entire sectors of the economy. Today's event impressively demonstrates how important regional networks are, as this is the only way to keep value creation in the region, which must ultimately be the goal.”

Afterwards, participants were able to choose from two parallel presentations: “Regional hydrogen supply with Tyczka Hydrogen” by Dr. Jan Michalski, “GP Joule's e-Farm project” by André Steinau, “Hydrogen in intralogistics at BMW” by Katharina Radtke (BMW) and Tim Schulz (greecon Consulting) and “Decarbonization and the electricity market in mobility” by Alexander Maier (Maier & Korduletsch).

The exhibiting organizations presented innovative solutions along the entire hydrogen value chain - from production and storage to applications in logistics and mobility. The Hydrogen Cluster Danube of OTH Regensburg and TH Deggendorf presented their own R&D projects and demonstrators. Visitors took the opportunity to find out about the latest technologies and exchange ideas with the experts.
