On February 9, 2023, the Cluster Mobility & Logistics together with our member, Webasto Roof & Components SE, invited to the event "Cluster Mobility & Logistics on site".
The plant manager, Christian Gallner, gave a very good look behind the scenes of the technology plant in Schierling with his presentation and the subsequent plant tour. The joint lunch afterwards provided an excellent opportunity for the 25 participants to exchange ideas and network.
The Webasto technology plant in Schierling, with a total area of 45,000 m², has been in existence for over 30 years and currently employs around 400 people, mainly in battery production. Among other things, several orders for European car manufacturers will be realized here in the coming years.
A significant proportion of the plant's energy requirements are covered by its own photovoltaic system. Together with the two-megawatt combined heat and power plant installed in 2014, this is a key component of Webasto's overall strategy for sustainable battery production and a successful example of the comprehensive energy concept. This also includes the exclusive use of green electricity from hydropower and the forthcoming installation of a battery storage system.
