The Cluster Mobility & Logistics based at TechBase Regensburg has successfully launched a new research project in the field of Industry 4.0. The focus is on condition monitoring (CM), i.e. the continuous monitoring of the condition of industrial plants in real time. The funding sum of 700,000 euros comes from the Central Innovation Program for SMEs (ZIM) of the Federal Ministry of Economics.
The Deggendorf Institute of Technology, the Technical University of Munich and the Regensburg-based companies Schindler & Schill and SYSTEMA GmbH are working together to implement the practical condition monitoring system "SI-CM3S" (Secure Industrial Condition Monitoring with high functional reliability) for widespread use in industry. Special consideration is given to aspects such as data protection, data security and the prevention of industrial espionage. Previous CM systems are often dependent on a connection to cloud structures. SI-CM3S compensates for their major disadvantages. The aim is to develop processes with which production data only has to leave the company boundaries to a limited extent or not at all.
The idea originated in the "SeDiPeT" cluster network, of which the aforementioned partners are members. The funded project is based on the successfully completed Industry 4.0 predecessor project "MobiCM" (Mobile Condition Monitoring System), which aimed to develop an intelligent network analysis sensor based on various signal acquisition and analysis methods - in short: a system for monitoring the condition of production machines.
Due to the increasing relevance of and need for automation, Industry 4.0 has become a market-ready format. Continuous condition monitoring is required in order to operate the increasingly complex systems in industry economically. Condition monitoring (CM) is a key technology in this regard. CM describes an approach in which the condition of machines and systems is constantly monitored using physical variables such as temperature or vibrations. The data from condition monitoring can be used to draw conclusions about necessary and cost-effective maintenance.
The following companies and research institutes are involved in the SI-CM35 project:
