The Cluster Mobility & Logistics is the only cluster in Bavaria to receive the “Gold Label” award from the European Cluster Excellence Initiative (ECEI), the highest quality label for cluster initiatives. There are currently only five clusters in Germany that meet this “gold standard”. The technology cluster based in TechBase Regensburg is therefore one of the leading cluster organizations in Europe. The award was presented at a press conference by Regensburg's Lord Mayor Getrud Maltz-Schwarzfischer and State Secretary Tobias Gotthardt.
“We were able to recertify our first “gold-labeled” cluster in Regensburg and thus demonstrate how sustainable our cluster policy in Regensburg is”, said Gertrud Maltz-Schwarzfischer, ‘Regensburg is now the cluster capital - the city has been pursuing an active cluster policy since 1996, always with the aim of strengthening the competitiveness and resilience of our local economy’. State Secretary Tobias Gotthardt conveyed his congratulations and emphasized that a well thought-out cluster strategy, targeted cluster activities and services and, last but not least, outstanding cluster management are essential for this all-round excellence. “It is a great distinction for us to be one of the excellent cluster organizations in Europe. We are aware of our responsibility and will continue to drive forward and continuously expand our network of business and science in the future in order to make a valuable contribution to strengthening Regensburg as a business location,” says Alexander Rupprecht, Managing Director of R-Tech GmbH, which manages the cluster.
The ECEI Gold Label “Excel in Cluster Excellence” is an independent certification of the European Secretariat for Cluster Analysis (ESCA) and is awarded to cluster management organizations that demonstrate high-quality cluster management. The ESCA Gold Label thus represents an important quality standard in the cluster landscape and promotes excellence in cluster management at an international level. It positions the cluster organization as one of the best and thus contributes to presenting Regenburg internationally as a location for innovation. “In order to receive the prestigious award for excellent cluster management, the cluster, which has over 100 members and cooperation partners, had to demonstrate its expertise based on specific assessment criteria,” says Uwe Pfeil, Cluster Manager. “The certification is based on an on-site assessment by external experts who check 31 quality indicators. The audit covers various aspects such as the structure of the cluster, composition of participants, management and governance, financing, strategy, services and successes. This also implies continuous optimization of structures and processes. The ECEI Gold Label is the “TÜV of excellence for clusters”.
At the press conference, cluster members AVL Software and Functions GmbH and KooSys GmbH presented concrete examples of cooperation with the cluster.
The award is valid for three years and is then reviewed again as part of a further audit.
